Nuri’s story
Nuri came to us as a sensitive Turkish Angora tomcat and quickly showed us how special he is. With his calm, confident nature and his fine antennae for people, he helps us every day to show guests what mindful, species-appropriate interaction with cats can look like.
Behaviour in the ChatzKafi
In the café, Nuri moves calmly and deliberately. He chooses his places with care and prefers cosy, slightly elevated spots from which he can observe everything in peace.
With other cats, Nuri is social and respectful. He avoids stress, gives clear signals and shows guests how important space and gentle introductions are in a cat group.
Towards people, Nuri is friendly and open-minded. He enjoys quiet company, gentle strokes and shows very clearly when he has had enough – a valuable lesson in reading feline body language.

Responsibility in everyday life
Guests get to know Nuri and the other cats in a protected, calm environment and can observe their natural behaviour.
We explain what cats need: safe spaces, species-appropriate activity, quiet zones and clear routines.
Our room concepts, retreat areas and climbing landscapes show how a cat-friendly home can be designed.
Guests take this knowledge home with them and can improve the everyday lives of their own (future) cats.
Important note: Nuri is not available for adoption. He lives permanently at ChatzKafi as an ambassador cat and helps us to promote animal welfare and mindful interaction with cats.
Our partner organisation
We work closely with regional animal welfare organisations and veterinary practices. Together we ensure that our cats receive the best possible medical care, are kept in a species-appropriate manner and are placed responsibly. Transparency and cooperation are very important to us.
